Prednisona 5mg

Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is usually taken orally, but it can be administered intramuscularly (injection) and is used for a large number of conditions. It mainly has a glucocorticoid effect. Prednisone is a prodrug that is converted by the liver to prednisolone, which is the active steroid form. As an immunosuppressant, it acts on practically the entire immune system. Therefore it can be used in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, middle and inner ear problems, and various kidney diseases such as nephrotic syndrome.

Target species: Canines and Felines.

Indications: Anti-inflammatory in musculoskeletal diseases and as a therapy for immunosuppression.

Dosage: Anti-inflammatory: Canines: 0.5 to 1 mg per kg of weight every 12 to 24 hours. Felines: 1 to 2 mg per kg of weight every 12 to 24 hours. Immunosuppression: Canines: 2.2 to 6.6 mg per kg of weight every 24 hours, initially and continue with 2 to 4 mg per kg of weight every 48 hours. Felines: Double the dose used for canines.

Administration way: Oral.
